The windows throughout the Church are of beautiful art glass, with glorious colors. All but the window in the Chancel are the handiwork of Von Gerichten and Sons, and were imported from Munich, Bavaria. Almost all the windows have been given in memory of some beloved one in our midst, who has been taken to the eternal home above; many are gifts to the congregation. In recognition of these memorials appropriate plates are placed on the windows.
The pictures and symbols for these windows were chosen after much careful thought, with a view of illustrating the great truths of Scripture. Chief credit for the well worked out sequence of pictures in these windows must be given to the late Pastor C. A. Kaumeyer. He spent many hours in study and research choosing pictures and symbols that would graphically depict the great truths of the Word of God, especially the main events in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Practically all of the windows were designed after the well-known Bible-pictures by Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld.
May these beautiful windows ever prove an inspiration as we assemble in the house of God to laud and magnify, with the angels and archangels and with all the company of Heaven, the glorious name of our blessed Redeemer.
Thus Emanuel Lutheran Church has these windows to testify to the Word of God, emphasizing the fact that “in Christ we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” The worshipers are surrounded with an inescapable atmosphere of reverence. Add to this our dignified liturgy and glorious Lutheran music and—by God’s grace—we have a setting worthy of the pure Gospel as proclaimed, and of the treasured Sacraments as administered in Emanuel Lutheran Church.
Below are just a portion of the windows. Emanuel is blessed to have stained glass all around the Church, including the Sunday School rooms and offices!
